Welcome back to the Self Love Confidential Poetry Oracle, where the universe sends you the message you need to hear right now by way of a poem from one of my books.
If you’re waiting for the rainbow after the storm, this week’s Oracle is for you.
Self Love Poetry: for Thinkers & Feelers
A week ago I thought all the signs in the universe were pointing to it being my time to shine. I manifested a UPS driver right where I needed one (a wild story, reply if you want to hear it), my husband manifested his lost ID getting returned in our mailbox (who gets back their lost ID and credit card?). The sun was shining, and I was certain it was shining for ME.
Then my daughter’s knee had its first flare up since she had surgery last year, a surgery I referred to last week in this very newsletter as a miracle (which it was and still is). Seeing my immobile daughter in pain caused my optimism about life to crumble. I had believed with my whole heart that this struggle was behind us… there were only open roads and cloudless skies ahead. Then came the rain. Both figuratively and literally. It’s pouring all around me as I write this to you.
The Shift: Poetry for a New Perspective.
There are so many truisms about the rainbow after the rain. That what gives suffering its meaning is the payoff we will receive for having endured it. I even included a pair of images in The Shift (pictured above) that references this very notion. And I’m not here to say that it’s wrong to have a positive outlook, to anticipate the rainbow after the rain. But sometimes, there is no rainbow. Sometimes it’s rain upon rain, and the rain doesn’t let up. And by rain, I mean pain. Which is what my daughter endured a lot of this week. Instead of making up some rainbow ending to her week of hell, what I’ll tell her instead is what I’ll now tell you:
What’s waiting for you at the end of the rainstorm… at the end of the rainbow itself in fact… is indeed a prize: and the prize is you. We are the ones that carry ourselves through, and in that we are the very miracles we wait for in our darkest moments.
Whatever it is that you’re going through in this moment, please remember:
You are the rainbow.
You are the pot of gold.
You are the magic.
You are the miracle.
