Welcome back to the Self Love Confidential Poetry Oracle, where the universe sends you the message you need to hear right now by way of a poem from one of my books.
If you’re find yourself focusing on others, this week’s Oracle is for you.
Self Love Poetry: for Thinkers & Feelers
It’s a funny thing to even think about, forgetting yourself. How can you forget yourself, when you are the very center of your world? Religions often say we are a reflection of God. And it is true: we are the creators of our very existence. Every thought, every feeling, every action — they come from us. And yet, we oftentimes find our minds straying, envy pulling us into someone else’s orbit, love deconstructing our autonomy. A creative hyper-focused on another creative’s success, a lover entranced by a potential partner, a mother lost in the needs of her child. Whatever the context, forgetting ourselves is a lot easier than one would think.
This week, I want you to take a step back, and reclaim your place in the center of your world. This doesn’t mean you can’t let envy give you information about what you value, or that you can’t pursue romantic love, or that you can’t care wholeheartedly for the people who need you most. What it does mean that as you do these things, you simultaneously consider yourself: your needs, your boundaries, your desires, your worth. I want you to also apply this recalibration to anything or anyone you’re clinging onto from the past. Once you remember who you are, it will be easier to forget about them. Because your life is for living, and it can only be lived in the present, and only by YOU.
Things to explore with me this week:
One week of my Duolingo Italian lessons!
I’ve replaced my late night doomscrolling with Duolingo in anticipation of my trip to Italy in October. I’m one week in, and I can’t tell you how accomplished I feel. I studied Italian for a semester in college, and I’m so pleased to see that my brain has retained so much of what I learned. I thought I only remembered song lyrics, but apparently I can remember foreign languages I never use, too. I digress. If you’re on Duolingo, or want to join me in some late night language learning, click below. This is not an ad or sponsored or affiliate link. I just like learning with friends.
My latest Pinterest board.
I’m working on a new book, which for me means a new Pinterest board. If you haven’t tried using Pinterest as an outlet for exploring your creativity, I highly recommend it. Whether you’re redesigning a room, or cultivating a new creative project like me, Pinterest is an excellent tool for letting your intuition run free. You never know what you’ll discover, or what you’ll develop based on your discoveries. Again, not an ad or sponsored.
