Just how still can you be?
Questions and an affirmation for the Full Snow Moon on February 12th

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac (and the Native American traditions from which much of the almanac derives), every year we are gifted twelve unique moons, each with its own name, energy, themes, and rituals. January brought us the Wolf Moon, and with it, the energy of community and self-expression. Now we are in February, and the Snow Moon beckons us to surrender.
What does it mean, to surrender? It means to give up your resistance. It means to relinquish control. And while we may think that letting go of control means losing — what it offers instead, is liberation. What would life look like for you if you loosened up your reins and instead trusted a little more? What might it feel like if you let your intuition, instead of your ego, take the lead?
Each month, we are gifted several moon phases, with the two most prominent being the new moon (when the moon isn’t visible to us) and the full moon (when we see her in her fullest expression). Each new moon is an opportunity to reclaim something. In February, the new moon is an opportunity to reclaim stillness. And today, during February’s full moon, we are afforded the opportunity to release something: control.
These are some more questions the Snow Moon wants you to ask yourself:
Can you let go without losing?
What message will find you when you let the universe speak to you?
What becomes possible when you allow nature to take the lead?
Unlike the solar calendar, which begins in January and begs us to commit to resolutions, productivity, and an upgraded version of ourselves, the lunar calendar is more aligned with the natural order. January isn’t the time for new beginnings — March is, with the coming of spring. December, January, and February are a period of deep rest and reflection. Now is the time not to do, but to receive. In a world that is pressuring you to rush forward — can you be powerfully still?
Tonight, under the full moon, look up and let go. Everything you desire is on the other side of your control. Embrace surrender and be still. Let it all come to you.
A practice I adopted a few years ago that I’ve incorporated into Moon Garden is the practice of writing an affirmation every month. You can time this with either the new moon or the full moon, depending on whether the essence of your affirmation is grounded in setting intentions and claiming something (new moon) or releasing something (full moon). Either way, the practice of an affirmation is a way to channel the energy you want to feel in the future into your current life, a practice I learned from Joe Dispenza. Here is the affirmation I wrote for February. Use it as your own, or write your own.
With love,
Melody
This newsletter contains excerpts and adaptations from my upcoming book, Moon Garden: Poetry for Manifestation. Moon by moon and poem by poem, nurture your journey of self discovery and co-creation in alignment with the universe. As you embrace nature’s rhythm, you will unlock your deepest desires, truths, and purpose. By honoring your intuition, setting intentions, and taking daily action, manifestation—the realization of your dreams—will naturally follow.
