Welcome back to the Self Love Confidential Poetry Oracle, where the universe sends you the message you need to hear right now by way of a poem from me.
If you’re ready to love today, today’s Oracle is for you.
An unplanned poem from today’s drive to school.
Every day, I drive my son Teddy (age 6) to school, and every day, we keep our eyes peeled for one thing: Cybertrucks. Teddy loves Cybertrucks. This isn’t the first time we’ve devoted ourselves to seeking out a specific car on the road. When Teddy was two, it was garbage trucks. Tuesday was our holiest day of the week: trash day. We’d drive around endlessly in the afternoons, counting how many trash trucks we could find. And as he grew up, trash trucks gave way to fire trucks, and now he is obsessed with Cybertrucks. The truth is, Teddy is always on the lookout for his joy.
When we see a Cybertruck (which thankfully in our neighborhood is often) we sasy, “Today is going to be a good day.” When Teddy sees more than one, he says, “Tomorrow is going to be a good day, too!” Today we saw two, so I said to Teddy, “Maybe our life is just a series of good days, and good tomorrows?” To which he immediately replied, “No. Our life is just a series of loving.” And with that, he took my breath away. I had tried to turn our little game of noticing into life being about good days. He reminded me that our life is not about good days, or bad days: it is always about loving.
Teddy believes his purpose on this planet is to be loving. I would love to take credit for this, but to be honest, he came to us programmed this way. Today, I hope you’ll join Teddy, and me, in believing that we are here to love. And that when we look for love all around us, when we notice the love, what we get, is a life of love. What you see is what you get. I hope this week, you see and get, and of course give, an abundance of love.
I love you.
Yes! Attention is so powerful! Thanks Melody!
