Welcome back to the Self Love Confidential Poetry Oracle, where the universe sends you the message you need to hear by way of a poem from one of my books. I’ll select the weekly poem(s) by trusting my intuition, the very thing I hope you’ll start to do as a member of this self love community.
If you need a reminder that you are in fact capable of literal magic, this week’s oracle is for you.
Self Love Poetry, page 13, alongside my Saint Lizzo candle.
“A powerful woman lives
not at the surface
but in her depths.
She makes her bed among
the roots of her being.
She is at home in her light
and at peace with her darkness.
She listens when her intuition speaks
and doesn't react when her ego screams.
She reflects in her moments of stillness;
she rises in her moments of clarity.
She appears as she is:
whole, worthy, abundant,
purposed, divine, chosen.”
Sometimes I forget about my magic. I forget that I am a powerful woman, capable of bending the universe to my favor. I get bogged down in the monotony of my life, the hamster wheel I described last week, the endless distractions that bombard me on my phone and pull me away from my essence.
But then, something will happen that so defies logic, that can’t be explained by anything other than a woman’s inherent and unparalleled magic, and I’m reminded: OHHH. This is what we are capable of — when we put our mind’s eye to something.
This weekend I was alone with my kids since I gave my husband time off to go climb a mountain as a Father’s Day gift. By lunchtime on Saturday I was already stressed. So when my mom text me that we should all get in her car and go to lunch together with the kids, I got agitated. I already had the kids buckled in my car when she pulled up to my house. We began a verbal tug of war: come in my car, no let’s take two cars, etc. When I got in my car and pushed the on button, I thought I had won. My will was stronger than my mom’s. But then it happened: the universe intervened on her behalf. My car wouldn’t start. Mind you I had just driven the car a few moments earlier, battery and engine working just fine. But now, with my mom idling in front of my house, my car simply wouldn’t start. I conceded. She had won.
We piled into her car, went to lunch, dropped the kids off at a birthday party, and when I returned home I called AAA. A tow truck driver was at my house in less than 15 minutes (a miracle in and of itself). But when he checked my battery, he gave me a confused look. He took my keys, went to the ignition, pushed on, and the car turned on. It turned on! “There’s nothing wrong with your battery,” he said. I gave him a tip and he went on his way.
When I called my mom to tell her what happened, this is what I said:
“The only thing that stands in the way of you having the life you want is that you don’t spend any time consciously directing your thoughts, desires, and power. If you spent half the time you spend worrying on manifesting instead, your life would be transformed.”
She didn’t argue with me. Because how could she? She wanted me in her car and so my battery failed to get me there. When she got what she wanted, the battery worked again.
I believe we are all capable of this kind of magic. We just have to know what we want, focus on it with intention, joy and gratitude, and trust that how we get there will work itself out. This is what it means to be a whole, worthy, abundant, purposed, divine and chosen woman. Are you ready to claim your magic today?
The best way to support my work is to share it.
