If you speak a romance language, like French, Italian, or Spanish, you may already know that Monday, is in fact, Moonday. In those languages, monday is lundi, lunedi and lunes, respectively, and in those languages, la luna—our moon—clearly takes center stage at the beginning of the week.
As a selenophile (moon lover), learning this has changed Monday from my day of dread to my favorite day of the week. Because it is my Moon day, I imagine my intuition and connection to the universe are the strongest. So every Monday, with the support of the moon, I return home to myself and design a week ahead that is in alignment with me, myself, and I.
What a shift this has been from my prior approach to Mondays, which was to schedule and attend to everyone else’s needs for the week, without taking a moment to plan for my own. The result? By Friday, I was a raging, disoriented, resentful and burnt out well of fire. All because I didn’t know Monday was Moonday, and Moonday is MY day.
Does this mean I only take care of myself, and say, “to hell with everyone else?” Not at all. It means I put us on a level playing field, instead of casting myself into the role of martyr. I create alignment between my needs and my lifestyle, and from there I create alignment between myself and the people around me. Every monday, the moon reminds me to check in and make sure there is balance: within me, and with my world.
Today, and every Monday, I want you to ask yourself: what does the moon want for me this week?
This week brings us more than Moonday though. On Friday, the very last day of February’s Snow Moon, we receive another astrological gift: a planetary parade where all the planets will be aligned and visible in the night sky.
Why does this matter, you might be wondering. As with most things, it depends on what you believe and what you do with those beliefs. For me, knowing that this month closes with the planets in perfect, visible alignment, is a nudge to get my own planets (which are my big-picture priorities and goals for the year) in order. January and February rushed passed me at a terrible, traumatic pace, and I’m ready to reclaim the rest of the year as my own. Maybe you are too?
With the arrival of the planetary parade, imagine you too can see everything in your personal universe with clarity and in perfect alignment. In your own planetary parade, where do all the pieces ideally go?
Manifestation is much less hocus pocus and much more clarity and commitment. In The ABCs of Self Love, I described it as the four Cs: Clarity, Commitment, Creation, and Community. See what you want, commit to it with your daily actions, create your desires, and share them with your community.
If you aren’t sure how to map out your year ahead with clarity and alignment, start by answering these clarity prompts from The ABCs of Self Love:
I am:
I need:
I want:
I believe:
I know:
I can:
I will:
With love,
Melody
This newsletter is inspired by my upcoming book, Moon Garden: Poetry for Manifestation. Moon by moon and poem by poem, nurture your journey of self discovery and co-creation in alignment with the universe. As you embrace nature’s rhythm, you will unlock your deepest desires, truths, and purpose. By honoring your intuition, setting intentions, and taking daily action, manifestation—the realization of your dreams—will naturally follow.
Why preorder? Because that’s what tells bookstores that this is going to be a hot book and inspires them to order copies for their stores. Preorders can make or break a book. Thank you for making Moon Garden a success and making it possible for me to keep writing.
